“In my world full of nothings, you are my everything.”
Another great read from an author who never disappoints.
Opposites attract or are they really all that different inside? Felice Stevens can be counted on to tell an interesting story imbued with the sights and sounds of multi-cultural New York. The author is one of those writers who
Jeremy Strauss decided that ‘ finding a lover is like eating a taco…all perfect looking on the outside BUT when you take a bite it all starts falling apart’ and that is why he generally expects his ‘dates’ to meet his physical needs and not much more than that.
A chance meeting in a snowstorm and mutual attraction between shy and buttoned-up accountant, Blake Myers, and charismatic gym owner, Jeremy Strauss captures the reader’s attention. Although Blake isn’t Jeremy’s usual ‘type” the encounter takes on more importance than anticipated for Jeremy Strauss. Something about Blake catches Jeremy’s attention and doesn’t let go. Jeremy, attractive and fit gym owner has come to expect people to judge him by appearances, attire, and occupation and Blake is no different, or so he presumes. Jeremy lacks self-awareness that he does the same, judging the business-like Blake by first appearances. Jeremy sees Blake as a successful corporate CPA, impeccably dressed and on the track to a partnership. At the same time, Blake sees Jeremy as a much too attractive, super fit business owner unlikely to have any real interest in him. This is a story of two men, on the surface successful and self-confident, both filled with feelings of inadequacy and expecting the worst.
Some characters in a story become are so special that they live in your memory like close friends or family. Jeremy’s brother Noah and his boyfriend/partner/lover Oren from One Call Away are still with me and to have this visit with them again as I read Jeremy’s story is wonderful. I already had a strong appreciation for the caring relationship of these brothers, Jeremy and Noah, despite the damage done by their oblivious and overbearing mother.
I wanted this to work out, this pairing, for both men, and I knew that secondary characters, family, and friends would both complicate and add to the tension. There are surprises in store for the reader, about the personality and desires of each man and perhaps an inadvertent Easter Egg or two along the way.
When this author releases a new story, I one-click, pour a drink, grab a comfortable blanket and settle in for reading pleasure.
