Enemies to lovers? A second chance at love. Recovery from a tragic past. So many themes and subthemes in this love story, captivating and emotional with some deliciously intimate moments that are in no way gratuitous but central to the story.
Nick is a quiet young man living a life defined by a tragedy from his youth and drenched in guilt and sorrow. His every action and plan is based on his need to make up for perceived sins from the past and live the life that he believes his parents would want. One of those actions made necessary by his debt to his parents caused great pain to his high school crush, Brian, now known as Brin (surprise!) and a coworker of Nick’s roommate.
The attraction of Nick’s youth was more than returned by Brin and the youthful betrayal is still painful. Brin’s relationships have all been colored by his loss of trust and continued feelings for Nick, although many years have passed since high school.
There are surprises in store for both young men. Perhaps what they perceive as their parent’s expectations and attitudes are colored by their own emotions? At the conclusion of this story, the question remains….where is the next one, the next story as you are absolutely left wanting more.
I really liked this story – 5 Amazon stars and 4.5 on Goodreads.
