Cris Sable doesn’t walk into popular gay bar Big Dick’s expecting to find more than a casual hookup, so he’s surprised by his instant attraction and intense chemistry with go-go dancer Jake. Jake’s sexy as hell and a firecracker in bed. The sparks between them are undeniable, and what starts as a hookup evolves into something deeper, possibly permanent—until Jake dumps Cris flat on his ass for no good reason.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A love story involving three men who learn about love and eventually each learns about loving himself. This author creates family in unlikely ways, using a variety of ingredients. Her stories are crazy good and this one is no exception! I do not have the words to express how much I enjoy, appreciate, love and anticipate her stories, the characters so well developed that you could recognize them on the street and the feelings that flow when reading. I find myself with a full chest at times, eyes overflowing at other times, heart ready to spill with happiness and at times with sorrow. I want to enter the story and engage with the characters and help them find the way when they venture off the path. I want to tell them the secrets to their happy place.
The setting for this story or one of the settings is Big Dick’s gay bar and when Cris Sable seeks a casual hookup he finds much more in the instant attraction to Jake. Chris’s life is complicated and he works as an actor, a porn actor, because he needs the money. Chris’s sudden attraction to Jake is a surprise to him and probably a very bad idea. Trust doesn’t come easily to either man. As go-go dancer Jake acknowledges, he has never been in any sort of relationship at all with any commitment and learning the truth of his feelings is like a punch to the chest. When Jake shares his feelings with Cris, he eventually opens up a little, “bleeding truth” about his terror at the thought of attachment and needing someone. Jake has suffered so much loss in his life that he basically has no anticipation of anything other than living one day at a time. He knows about homelessness and abuse. He doesn’t really know love at least not since the death of his mother. Charles is the third person in this triad, older then both Cris and Jake, he is Cris’s employer. Charles has long had deep feelings for Cris but as his employer in the adult entertainment industry, he maintains his distance. This is a gorgeous, tasty feast of a story and perfect lead in for the Sound of Us, the next story in the series. This story is a sure thing for the lover of a well-written M/M or M/M/M romance.
